UFO sightings increased from 45 to 225 in Pennsylvania in the second half of 2008. This was the largest UFO Wave across Pennsylvania since 1973. Unlike Kecksburg in 1965, these reports were filed by a large number of witnesses which included six police and or military witnesses and nearly all reports were across the southern part of the state from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia. In Canada, more and more people are reporting UFOs each year, from all provinces. Yearly numerical analyses of UFO reports show variations that give insight into the nature of the UFO phenomenon as a whole. Although started as an experiment in UFO data collection, the Canadian UFO Survey has yielded some interesting results over the years. After 20 years of UFO report collection and study, this longitudinal analysis is useful in helping to understand the characteristics of UFO sightings. If UFOs do not represent alien visitation as is popularly conceived, the numbers of reports demand that the phenomenon deserves scientific study, if not as a physical phenomenon, then one of a sociological or psychological nature.
